Catching the Digital Radio Bug – Anytone D878UV Plus

1 min read • Updated Feb 20, 2021

After successfully getting Pi-Star up and running, I think I’ve caught the digital radio bug!

Since I didn’t have any DMR devices, I decided to pick up a brand-new Anytone D878UV Plus handheld transceiver—and so far, it’s been a great experience.

The Anytone D878UV Plus is a dual-band (VHF/UHF) DMR and analog FM radio, packed with features like:

  • Customizable talk groups for DMR networks
  • Roaming and APRS support
  • Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free operation
  • A solid battery life, making it great for portable use

I’ve started exploring DMR talk groups and getting used to programming the radio. Next step: fine-tuning my codeplug and seeing how far I can reach with my hotspot!

Anyone else using the Anytone D878UV Plus? Any tips or must-have features I should try out?
